Allora, Thursday we were supposed to have our pday with Anziano Hill but his companion backed out at the last second and didn’t want to come so we didn’t go to the trenches again.
Then friday we went to go to the farm again and Terry told us that an African named Patrick would give us a ride to the farm. I guess we misunderstood because he showed up on a bike then we had to pay for his ticket for the bus. We thought about teaching him but with Africans we have 2 tests: #1 We only speak in Italian with them because we don’t want to baptize anyone that can’t speak the language and #2 if they have been here for 2 years or less and don’t speak that well we will teach them to give them a chance but if they have been in Italy for 3 or more years and don’t speak Italian, from my experience, they won’t understand the gospel. Unless you speak their dialect of english they won’t understand because unfortunately they just aren’t that educated.
While working on the farm Terry gave me some flip flops I asked him to buy for me then I would pay him back and he said no I don’t want your money it’s a gift. The flip flops are super cool. All the Italians have them; they have the brazilian flag on them because they are made in brazil .
Then Saturday we weekly planned and and went to Monfalcone to teach Cyril, our new convert.
Sunday we taught Gospel Principles again and went on an adventure hike with our new convert and taught a lesson in the forest, it was pretty cool. Also Willey came to church and he is the step son of the 2nd counselor in the branch. He isn’t baptized yet and the mom stopped forcing him to come to church a while ago and so after church she came up to us and said “I don’t know what you guys are doing with Willey but dont stop”. On Saturday he came up to her and said “Mom can I go to church with you tomorrow?” Willey’s mom was also about to cry while thanking us so we will just continue being his friend and also talk to him about the gospel. We are really gaining a great relationship with the members here in Gorizia!
Monday we cleaned our house for a day called Gem Day, to clean very well, so the house is nice for the next missionary but we are both staying together this transfer! Also our district is growing, instead of just Trieste and only being 4 missionaries in the district we will have Udine and Pordenone . Anziano Glowa (my trainer) is district leader for his last transfer so I get to do at least one last scambio with him before he goes home!
Yesterday we had English class and that’s about it. It is really difficult to find people when everyone is on vacation and at the beach because it is about 100° in the shade! ya 100 it is sooo hot, I wake up dehydrated every morning and drink about a liter of water. I miss air conditioning sooooooooooooo much!!!!!! And today I need to get a hair cut!
The shoes I bought were 50% off so I had to buy them. They are 100% handmade in Italy shoes. No Jared hasn’t written to me yet. The pic of me with the tree is from Modena and I am with Anziano Strobelt. It was a cherry tree in the park next to our house.
Well love you have a great week! Jake
