Well this week was pretty good. Last Thursday we had to go to Milano for a district leader training and it really helped. It literally took all day. We got up at 5:30 am then we got home at like 930 pm. Long day! Pres. Wolfgramm told us this story about about 5 monkeys in a cage and there was a ladder and a banana at the top of the ladder on a string and every time a monkey touched the banana the other monkeys were sprayed with cold water. So after a couple of attempts any monkey that tried to touch the ladder was beaten up. Then they took one monkey out and put a new monkey in and this monkey didn't know about the cold water so he went to go up the ladder and the other monkeys beat him up. Then they got another new monkey and he tried to do the same thing and they beat him up too. So by the end, they replaced all of the monkeys that were sprayed with cold water so every time a monkey tried to touch the ladder, he got beat but he did not know why he was being beat up. The other monkeys didn't know why they were beating him up either, they only knew that they couldn't touch the ladder and who ever did you had to beat him up. So the moral of the story is to break the traditions of our fathers, especially if we don't know why we are doing it. It is pretty funny, I liked it.
Saturday we planned the week and did finding work. I also created a game for the district to play so we can start using members more and I think it's working; the district is doing awesome but as of right now we are last place so as the district leader I must be the example so we have to work our behinds off to catch up because we are about 600 pts behind first place. Also on Saturday we had one person stand us up, the guy who is 25 but we just need to call him. Then we had a lunch appointment with a member and then an appointment with an African mom who is a member. We went to teach her 8 year old twins. It went pretty well. Then we had a super good lesson with some less actives who are reactivating. The wife was crying a bit while bearing her testimony and they are having a hard time because he lost his job recently and 3 months before that they didn't pay him. So we told them to start following all the commandments and align their will with Gods will and they will have blessings poured out upon them.
Sunday just normal church and finding work. Then Monday we had everyone cancel us and I had to stay inside a bit because I crushed dried cayenne peppers and accidently scratched myself and forgot that I had pepper on my hands and my genitals were on fire. I couldn't move; they burned so bad! So lesson learned, wash hands after using hot stuff!
Tuesday we passed by a less active but she was working and couldn't see us. Then we went to the coolest members house. He has a ton of guns from WWII! He has the Russian Swiss American rifles and also had a double barreled shotgun and a Winchester and a K47 so we took a pic like we were terrorists haha.
Then we had a member present lesson with our African guy investigator and it went really well We talked about the Book of Mormon. Then we had ward council and they did not talk anything about missionary work. I'm not sure why we even go but we do help them plan activities and show them things on how we do stuff in American.
Then yesterday we had a zone conference and we just went over all the the things of how to explain things to new missionaries, so it was just a review for us.
Last week I bought a super awesome suit. Today I am going to buy some jeans and some stuff on the black market. We did get the apartment but we aren't moving in until March. I do wear that coat but because a member gave me a new one made of wool I use that one.
As far as college, I will just go to Utah State because I can go there and study to be an archeologist. Also one of my mission friends has invited me to go to New Zealand with him for a month next April and we will live in his relatives house and they will feed us, that's what he said. So I'm going to plan on going.
Well love you have a great week.
Jake
