So this week has been interesting, we will say that. Last Friday we weren't able to weekly plan because we had a ton of appointments. The one in the morning went really well. She is the one that has the husband in prison because he was in the mafia. Anyway we basically told her she won't be happy until she starts following all the commandments and the spirit was extremely strong so hopefully she will take the initiative to start doing everything. Then we did the same thing with another less active family. I am glad me and my companion are old so we can be on the same page and teach with the spirit and call an "audible" lesson to change the lesson on spot.
Saturday the landlady came to see our house and we thought she was going to rip us a new one because of how trashed it was but she took the blame and said "Well we haven't been here in a while so it's our fault it's like this. So it went well. Then we had a destroy lesson with a new convert who follows everything but church so we just said "you know that attending church is the most important. If you don't do that you're not renewing your covenant and you will be damned in the last days". It was a harsh lesson but needed to be done. Sunday we had a baptism of two 8 year olds and they don't have a dad so the mom asked me to do it for some reason. So I ended up baptizing two people 11 times! One, because the font only filled halfway and in Italian you have to say 1 or 2 more words that don't make sense in English. So I started with the twin sister and I tried doing it normaly but there wasn't enough water so I had to re do it. Then I went on my knees to re do it and her dress had air in it so it didn't go under so I had to do it a third time and they said it was ok. Then I did the twin brother just fine so I unpluged the font and it started draining and they told me it wasn't good. Everyone was already in the sacrement room thinking the baptisms were good when they actually weren't so I had to hurry and replug the font and so now there's about a 1/4 water and so I had to do them sitting down. The sister I re-did fine the first time. Then when I did her brother, his feet kept coming out of the water and so I had to sit very awkwerdly criss crossed with my leg over his legs and do the baptism' man can you say worst baptism in history! So I guess the Ward will remember me as the missionary who couldn't baptize haha.
On Monday I did a scambio with Anziano Walker and it went really well. We invited a ton of people but no success. That morning we had District meeting and I talked about baptism dates because as a district we have alot of investigators but no dates. Then the day after on Tuesday every companionship called me and said they just set a baptismal date! That was super great to hear that they set them. Then yesterday we reset a baptismal date for the 24th of February and went to our ward mission leaders house.
I'm doing fine, it's not cold here yet. The Rome temple finishes in the summer of 2014 and I would love to be there for the opening, it would be awesome! I already knew about the shootings. I was cutting peppers to put in my pasta. The sales last until March. And as for college I would love to go to Boise State but they don't have Air Force ROTC but I can't join the ROTC until Sophmore year anyway so I was thinking I can go to Boise State and then I could transfer to another school. So apply for me at BSU and then I could just think about transfering. Also you need to sign me up for classes when I become accepted. I plan to try for a degree in Anthropology. Thanks
love ya, Jake
